First real snow fall of the year.
It was extremely slippery this morning (1 to 10 scale,
8.5!) and I saw a truck do a donut in an intersection,
and a WRX sliding sideways on take off (due to road
camber)
The MINI did a LOT better than I
thought. People are not joking when they say this
car rocks on snow! With just all season tires, the
car handled the snow without any problems at all.
Obviously it doesn't grip like when its dry out, but
comparing to my old Volvo 850 (future link), it is quite
a lot better. Contrary to some people on
Mini2.com, I find the traction control very nice on the
MINI. It cuts back just enough power when there is
lots of wheel slippage, but it doesn't cut in so much
that forward motion is impeded. On ice it actually
brake the wheel that's spinning free and sends power to
the other wheel with traction.
